There is that immutable law which the Eastern World labels "the law of Karma" and our scientific world calls "the law of cause and effect". In our Christian bible, this same law is referred to in the phrase, "as ye so, so shall ye reap"... .and it means just that! It means that everything in existence must produce after its own kind....the acorn must grow another oak, the seed of a rose bring forth another rose, and the multiple manifestations of life must and will reproduce only their own Individual species. We all know these basic things -- we know all about that seed of corn that will produce more corn, etc., but what most of us do not know is that thoughts are things, and will produce after their own kind! We find it hard to believe that one small negative thought will eventually in some way produce a negative condition, unless it is counteracted with a good and positive thought. By the same token, good thoughts projected and set into motion, not being disturbed by thoughts of fear, anxiety, resentment, etc., will create happy and prosperous conditions. The skeptic will say "that's a lot of nonsense" and "much easier said than done". We do not claim that it is easy to change a life-time of conditioning to negative thinking, but nonsense it is not, and I will proceed to 'tell you why. I will show you that this is a workable law, and is used by every human being either for, or against himself. The principles of this law can be utilized and proven results can be demonstrated. Once it is understood and properly used, life can become an interesting and fascinating existence, unfolding in exactly the way you want it to. You are the master of your own destiny!

To understand the workings of this Karmic law, or as science calls it, the law of cause and effect, we must reflect upon and examine what our great philosophers tried to teach us as long as 5000 years ago... .and science today, in this atomic age, has proven... .and that is, that the universe is made up of one substance. The great Einstein, in his "Unified Field Theory", tried to find one formula that would be applicable in formulating the relationship between the three great laws discovered before the atom, these being, gravity, magnetism and electricity. Unfortunately, Einstein did not live long enough to prove this theory, but one of his successors, Werner Heisenberg, did (Science of Mind, 1958 Annual Edition). A few years ago an hour long presentation on television introduced to the public what science had discovered about the mystery of the cosmic ray. This, in fact, was what the program was named, "The Mystery of the Cosmic Ray", and it told how through extensive research it was discovered that the universe is one substance....that the same substance stars and planets are made of is also the very substance forming the innumerable manifestations of life and vegetation on our earth.

This being the case would indicate that there must be one Life Force behind all creation....the Cosmic Creator, or Universal Intelligence forever manifesting Itself in all Its creations. Science has proven that all matter broken down into its finest elements consists of Innumerable charges of positive and negative energy (electrons, protons, neutrons, etc.), or nothing but mass energy, ether, light or as theologians name it, Spirit. It is difficult to believe that a seemingly very solid object, such as a piece of steel or concrete can in actuality be of an altogether opposite origin. Everything in existence must and does come from mind! That is, its origin comes from mind. Take for example as simple a thing as the pencil or pen we write with. In order for It to be manufactured, it first had to be an idea in mind, then perhaps lengthy research on the best choice of materials, and finally manufactured. The same thing holds true for all that is made, from the gigantic skyscraper to a piece of writing paper. In all things, the idea comes first, then the materials used must be transformed from one form to another....all coming from extensive research, and all originating in mind or idea. This same holds true for our universe... .for a small seed to become a huge tree, or a bud to become a flower there must first be an idea in the mind of the Universal Intelligence or Creator. He projects thought into the formless energy and as the Law proclaims, the thought will produce after its own kind, be it a man, a lesser animal or a form of plant life.

'The bible having been claimed by the western world and much of the eastern world as the word to live by, states that man is created in the image and likeness of God. It also states that "as a man thinketh in his heart so is he". This can be accepted and understood in that man is the only and of course the highest form of animal Life on earth with the power of free choice and will. He is the only animal that recognizes himself as a separate entity with this volitional ability. Thus man has the power to choose, to create, to decide on his way of life, providing of course, he has the initiative and ability to break away from dogmatic tradition, heredity and environment when necessary for self improvement. Man has the power to project a thought into the formless substance aforementioned and produce a condition after its own kind. The thought forms a mold and will eventually, through the Karmic Law (cause and effect) produce on a material or physical level that which was projected.

We are all familiar with the positive thinker that attracts more friends, good business and good health into his conditions, as well as the poor negative, continually despondent person that seems to attract more of the same, poverty, illness and limitation into his conditions. The man that knows he is capable and successful, is....in spite of occasional seeming set backs. The man that says he is afraid because he lacks education, know-how, money, etc., will never move out of the dismal picture his thoughts keep manifesting. How many times have you heard and read "think positive thoughts"....form mind pictures of the things you desire and know that you will receive them? The word faith is mentioned in our bible 92 times. The secret of attaining our desires depends solely on our use of the law of the universe and the strength of our knowledge and faith in it. You must know without any reservation that your word is power, and what you project into mind firmly, knowing and believing, will be made manifest in its own time and in its own way. "Faith is the essence of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". We are meant to live in health, wealth and harmony. In Genesis it states that after each day of creation, it was said "and behold it was very good" and He created man in His image, both man and woman, and gave them dominion over the earth. The universe is ruled by love and by law. When we live in harmony with our basic creation, only good and harmonious conditions fill our lives as they unfold. Dr. Erich Fromm, a noted psychiatrist, writes that "as the ultimate of religion is mysticism, so the ultimate of psychology is love" (Art of Loving). Dr. Carl Menninger said on a TV. interview not too long ago that "Christ and Freud were trying to tell us the same thing in their basic philosophy in love of God and love of our fellow man Only through selfless love, in its true essence, do we find peace. Only through the process of becoming totally selfless, and offering love instead of criticism, goodwill instead of envy, kindness instead of hatred and prejudice, can we rid ourselves of the guilt and fear so deeply embedded in our subconscious minds. Do unto others, holds much more truth and value than most of us recognize. We can, through right thought and by following creative guidance from within, attain most any goal we set out to achieve, but our happiness lies only in attaining these things without in any way injuring or taking from another. Because we all have our origin in this one formless substance, everything we do can act as a boomerang. ...reaping as we sow. The good we send forth will come back a hundredfold to bless us, just as the evil will come back to destroy the evil doer, and the lie eventually turn upon the liar. We can rest assured those who find it necessary to injure another in either thought, word or deed are going through their own private mental hell due to fears, insecurities or feelings of inadequacies of one kind or another. The "Law of Karma" states that only through wishing for others that which we would have ourselves does the "law" work effectively in our own lives and conditions. By mentally inhibiting others, we inhibit ourselves and keep the creative forces of life from expressing through us, as we are all part of one universal Mind.

Though we are asked to "turn the other cheek", we are also expected to stand up for principle where necessary, but with a free mind, knowing that right action is taking place when we keep our thoughts in harmony with creation and the law of the universe. We have been given dominion over the earth! This is the "law" --- that immutable law of cause and effect. Learn to know it and use it with wisdom and courage!
